- Emphasize on the key words (like the title)
- Be confident and carry yourself well
- Don't have to wait for the red cross girls to finish tying the rope. Just say the pledge. (Unless the flag has not reached the top, then WAIT!!!)

1. Only have one earring on each ear if you have ear holes
2. Neat hair
3. No coloured hair
4. Changed into your blouse
5. YOUR COUNCILLOR BADGE ON(be proud to be one. :) )
6. Your belt at your waist
7. Nicely trimmed finger nails
8. Skirt must be at the knees. If your skirt is three fingers higher than your knee, get a new pinafore or just undo the hem.
9. School songs that can be SEEN, and cover your ankles

Hey dudes! As you know Ship is not too happy that you guys don't sign up fast for duty. So...
- Please walk pass the council board if you can before school starts, recess or after school.
You pass it most of the time, so just take a look. :)
- Be spontaneous! Sign up and have fun!
- Sign up for Invest too (You need to at least go for ONE)

House rules for council room

Cleaning the council room is not easy, dudes! So we are going to set rules! :D

1. Please do not store things that are unrelated to council in the room. Unless you have a valid reason then you can, however please collect it after 2 days. If not *poof* out the window/door it goes.
2. We will try and make a map so you can locate everything. However when you take something please put it back in the same place and don't just dump things on the floor/table.
3. Please throw you rubbish outside (especially if it is sweets...we found melted sweets on the table. Not cool dudes...)

Cluster camp Briefing

Date: 27th March 2010 (Saturday)
Time: 9am-7pm (need to clean up)

This event is to train Primary school students have to be a servant leaders. All Sec 2 and 3s are involved. However if they require the help of the Sec 4-5, please help them. :D

Valentine's Day + CNY gifts
- Please check council board to see if you are on duty to collect orders on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday's recesses. Wednesday we will also be collecting orders but only until 3pm.

- Orders will be collected outside General Office. Get the table that is in front of the ELDDS board.

- Please get the customers' names, classes, how many packets, contact number, tick if have paid.

- They have to pay on the spot! (1 for 50cents, 2 for 90cents)

- If you are the last shift please return the table back to the front of the ELDDS board.

- Put money box in any Ex Co's pigeon hole

* Note: Please stay back at least twice to help pack the love letters (more information will be pasted on the council board soon)

SINGLeaders is envisaged as an online community of prefectorial boards and student councils with the aim of fostering better interschool interaction and understanding. With SING-leaders you will be able to conveniently give and receive invitations to upcoming prefect events such as investitures or prefect-days, and receive faster online RSVPs. You will also be able to share and exchange information on your respective boards. With blogging, user pages and private email functions, SING-leaders will not only serve as an online interschool noticeboard, but will also enable selective mailing. This will facilitate any interschool activities which you may be organising jointly with other boards, or simply do not have the capacity to organize with every school in the network in mind.

Hello Guys!
MY FIRST POST ON THE IJ STUDENT COUNCIL BLOG!

Good job for Investiture 08/09, people!
Those 2 weeks of sweat-ishly hardworking days are over.

Performance: Swweeet job on the script and on that day itself. Even though the time given to change wasn't enough and there were bits and pieces of unpredicted surprises, but you guys still picked yourselves up and continued to do your thing. Loved being eunuch with you people. The audience loved the show. But I think you all loved it more. Good job.

Gifts and Programme Booklet: Well done, darlings. I know you guys needed to redo the gifts after spending the whole day on it. But I didn't hear any complains and you guys just kept redo-ing it to have it the way we wanted it. Seriously well done. Good effort by the I/Cs too when AP wasn't free. And even though the programme booklets had many configurations, I'm quite sure you guys dealt with it well. I'm proud of you guys. And Thank you.

Decorations: Oho. You people had so much to deal with on the day itself with the teachers telling us that the blue lanterns were unsuitable. Much chaos and confusion. But I think you guys handled it well, coming up with solutions and carrying it out systematically with the help of some of our seniors too. AND AWWMAN! the lanterns that you guys put so much effort in too. It's okay. God has his ways that little ones like us do not understand. Thank you God for that day's lesson. :D Banner was magnificent and, if I'm not wrong, it was done just a few days before Invest. Ahaha. Good job in putting in so much effort guys, it couldn't have been done without you people.

Guestbook and Service: Yep. Yep. Good job on the creation of the guestbook people! So much effort put into it! Well done! And for Service, MY MUM SAID THE SINGERS WERE FANTASTIC. so well done! Praises also to the planners and planning of the service. Songs and readings well thought of. Everything was well planned. God must has bestowed his love onto you people cause I think you all deserve it. Well done.

After all that planning and that staying back night after night to finally get at least the plan out. Well done. It's over. I expect you all are having Post-Invest Syndrome. CAUSE I HAVE IT. But, hey, look forward cause we have plenty of event yet to be organized.

Haha.. well Eliza is really happy! Why? Cos fiesta was the BESTEST! don't you agree?

But without all these people, it wouldn't have been such a success:

You COUNCILLORS! the bx-co & sec fours for PLANNING and ORGANISING the whole fiesta! We did an AWESOME job! thank to those who stayed overnight and after fiesta to help the ex-co out, we love you! for agreeing to learn and do the funny council performance :) But i'm sure you enjoyed it cos you all couldn't stop smiling while dancing. I've got PROVE!
The PSG: Aunty Phyllis (for helping with food), aunty gerry (for providing us with deco, her tatooing, nail art and hairspray services) as well as SUSHI on thursday when we stayed overnight), Mrs Vincent (for helping us to handle annoying uncle ringo), Uncle Pat (for helping us with logistics, putting up deco, handling the coupon boxes), and ALL the parents that took time of their busy busy work schedules to help us out & all the donations. WE LOVE YOU!
The classes and CCAs doing food,misc stalls and games: YOU ALL were AWESOME! could really see the effort you all put in the games. it was really really commendable! the fiesta wouldn't have been great without your help.
The office staff: Ms Esther Yuen (for helping us with coupon sales and handling of $$ ), Auntie Florence, Auntie Linda, Ms Rohana, Mdm Fatimah, Ms Nadiah for always helping us with photocopying, printing, and providing us with materials. You've really made things easier for us! THANK YOU!
The leadership comm: Mrs Nics POK POK! (for always being there all the way, despite how busy she was), Mr Papa Jiow (for helping us sort out the sound system when it was totally greek to us), Mdm Zu Pooh Pooh (for helping us with the book sales), Ms Chua Ping Ping, Ms Michelle Ng.
The teachers who stayed over with us on thursday: Ms Teo Jin Leng (for helping me count 8000 over dollars in cash too), Ms Yvonne Ng (for agreeing to lend us your drums), Ms Michelle Tan, Mrs Chow. & ALL the form teachers who helped us with the collection of coupon money.
The BANDS & performers who agreed to perform for us free of charge! You really hyped up the atmosphere of the whole fiesta!

Thank you for blessing us with such good weather on thursday and friday so that we could carry out preparations and the whole fiesta :) thank you for blessing us with such a great crowd and a smooth flow of things. thank you for really answering our prayers... we love you lord :)

Hey all..

Well amidst all the fun and excitement anticipating the fiesta this friday. Well i just felt that we needed to say a prayer. so here goes.

Dear Lord,

We started preparing for this fiesta since months ago. The journey wasn't smooth sailing, we had many hiccups along the way, experiencing irritation and frustration sometimes with people that we were working with. However, beneath all the unhappiness, thank you for all the valuable lessons we have learnt along the way, to overcome all these obstacles, tolarating all the nonsense.

Often, we did not have time for our schooolwork, but we had to stop for mid years, and now we've resumed work. While the results will be coming back for our mid-years this week, help us to accept whatever results that we get, and not let it affect us too much and hinder our performance for this fiesta.

Lord, please give all the councillors, especially the sec fours and fives the strength to carry on the critical planning and preparations for this friday. When we feel really tired and exhasuted, lift us up. When things just don't seem the way they are, help us see the postive side of it. 4 days is a really short time to pull things together, help us to make the best use out of it.

On the day itself, we really really pray for GOOD WEATHER. we pray that we'll be able to ignite that IJ SPIRIT in every single student and staff of the school. we pray that we will be able to cope with any hiccups that come along the way. we pray that we will be able to attract the crowd. most importantly, we pray for the safety and health for all :)

Thank you for blessing us with a great team that has been helping us so far: Our councillors, the teachers, especially pok, the office staff, the parent volunteers, aunty gerry, uncle pat, mrs vincent, and all those who have made our work smoother and easier for us. and all those that have been continously given us support all the way.

Thank you for watching over us. Continue guiding us, and please lord, i hope this isn't too much to ask, but let this fiesta be a success :)

I HOPE YOU DON'T MIND ME HERE.

I miss all of you terribly!!

To the exco - hang in there, I'm so very proud of you guys for all the effort and committment and unswerving dedication you guys always had to see this through, and Fiesta sounds awesome. my only gripe is that it's on a weekday 'cause I always end school at like 4, 5 plus so I'll prolly like come back just to support you guys for like clean up or something haha.

To everyone else - keep the IJ spirit burning bright! You'll never realise how much these words mean til you leave IJ, I swear, so appreciate the commonality and the bond you guys share! Keep the council flag flying high - although the IJ council has a really short history there's so much potential for growth if you believe in what you're doing and perpetuate what you believe in for real.

Your seniors love you all very much and are keeping busy passing that "flame of zest" on in councils all around Singapore.

Lastly - all the best in MYEs!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS. DON'T SAY "GOING TO FAIL FOR SURE LA" You must never demean yourself! good luck and have faith in God.

we hope you will, as true servant leaders, comply.

it is a collective decision by the council welfare and development committee, with the full backing of partnerships and the garang monster (laura) herself, that it should not, i reiterate, NOT fall to the council welfare committee solely to clean up the room for the following reasons:

1) room cleaning is a very trivial pedantic matter if you get to the root of it. the CW&D committee cannot be doing this perpetually if it is to develop the council.

2) they scarcely use the room even. yes you may argue that it's their job 'cause they're CW&D-ers but at the very heart of it, doesn't that mean you can be irresponsible just because the council welfare team will clean up your mess afterwards? the things you people leave are. amazing. we found somebody's sodden PE attire from orientation once when cleaning for invest. quite gross eh.

3) the room is not the council welfare committee's responsibility. if it were, you'd all be banned from entering anyway. the room is every single councillors' fiduciary responsibility (read: your right, therefore, you are entitled to look after it yourself) so why should cleaning up fall to the CW&D comm? to be frank i think we all need to realise that we're always, always responsible for our acions - your irresponsible flinging of dirty and clean PE attire/books/towels/sandal(s)/shoes/cardboard etc. etc. etc. etc. will affect somebody else negatively. i know many of you are thinking, but this is the CW&D's job, why should we do it? i think we need to move beyond our comfort zones and take full responsibility for our actions.

ok? i hope you guys get my drift - basically we want you to move beyond your current states and take full responsibility, because as leaders, you're constantly in the limelight. yes you may say you'r ein the limelight so often but you're human too - but if being human and exercising your right to be a slob means that you make somebody else's life harder, then that's not what we're about right?

Hellooo councillors!

Alright i have a new update!

There's a duty next saturday, 19th May. And i need 20 councillors to come down! (for those who are already involved in the presentation, don't sign up for duty) It's the syf presentation for the parents and it's from 6pm to 9pm. It might drag on so yeahh, just take note! Oh, full council uniform btw.

We (mrs nicks & i) highly encourage the sec2s & 4s to come down for this duty. Dear sec 4s, this will be our last duty before we step down. And sec 2s, i think you guys haven't really been active so this is your last chance to be exposed to duties before the official IJ opening in july. That's a major school event involving only the sec2s and 3s. So that means all um, 44 councillors must be sure of what they're doing.

Sec3s, i'm pretty confident in you guys and i'm sure the next SP head will guide the council through such future school events, but if you sign up i won't object! Afterall, it works on a first-come-first-serve basis. So yep, look out for that duty list on monday morning!
